UPCOMING EVENTS
1. Friends of L’Arche Gathering – January 20th
WHEN: Wednesday, January 20th, 5:30 pm to 8 pm.
We’ll gather at 5:30, have a pizza and salad dinner at 6:00, and then do some summer-themed activities, to keep us warm! Feel free to wear some summery clothes. If you are able to bring a salad or dessert to share, that would be helpful.
WHERE: Grace-Westminster United Church hall
Our next Gathering will be on Wednesday, February 10th at Grace-Westminster (the following Wednesday is Ash Wednesday).
2. L’Arche Prayer Nights
Prayer Nights continue on Wednesday nights (except when there’s a Friends of L’Arche Gathering) at Christopher House, from 7 until 7:30 pm, with tea and cookies afterwards. Upcoming Prayer Nights are on January 27th and February 3rd.
3. L’Arche Crafts Group – February 7th
Come and spend an afternoon with the L’Arche Crafts Group, chatting and making things. We have several crafts on the go that you can come and participate in, or bring your own craft and do it in good company! We next meet on Sunday, February 7th, from 2:00-4:00 at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church. For more information, email Amy.
4. Taize Prayer at Queen’s House
A number of Friends of L’Arche attend Taize Prayer on the second Tuesday of every month, from 8 to 9 pm at Queen’s House—feel free to join us.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
If you or someone you know would like to learn more about becoming a L’Arche assistant for the summer or for a year or more – either in Saskatoon or elsewhere in Canada or beyond (L’Arche is an international federation, after all) – check out the L’Arche Saskatoon assistants info or L’Arche Canada (be sure to check out the videos showing L’Arche assistants) or L’Arche International. Assistants usually live in, but sometimes live out of the L’Arche home; they receive training, are paid, have days off each week and month and holiday time each year, go on retreats, learn to live in a caring ecumenical faith community with lots of celebration and fun and friendship and opportunities for personal growth.
